S. Carolina cop who killed unarmed black man guilty of rights charge
A South Carolina policeman who was filmed shooting an unarmed black man in the back after a traffic stop pleaded guilty Tuesday to a civil rights violation charge, which could bring up to life in prison. The Justice Department said that former North Charleston, South Carolina, police officer Michael Slager, 35, agreed to the single federal charge five months after a jury failed to convict him of murder in the case. In December, a lone jury member in the state case prevented a murder conviction, forcing the judge to declare a mistrial and plan for a new trial.
Police officers who shot dead Alton Sterling 'will not be charged'
Alton Sterling - in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, according to reports. Police said they were were responding to a call that someone who fit the description of Mr Sterling was illegally selling CDs and threatening people with a gun outside of a convenience store in July 2016. Bystanders' video from the scene appeared to show two white officers on top of Mr Sterling arresting him.
Police: Man killed roommate, then shot neighbor, paramedic
DALLAS (AP) — A 36-year-old man with a criminal history killed his roommate, shot his neighbor and opened fire on responding paramedics in a Dallas neighborhood during an attack that prompted police to barricade the area for hours, investigators said Tuesday.

IS attack kills dozens at Syria camp
A jihadist assault led by suicide bombers killed dozens Tuesday at a camp for the displaced near Syria's border with Iraq, as pressure grows on the Islamic State group in both countries. The violence left at least 46 people dead and came as another surprise IS attack on Tuesday killed 10 soldiers in Iraq, to the south along the border. As the tolls mounted, US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin discussed the need for "safe zones" in Syria in a telephone call, said the White House.
